Welcome to the Micronesia Dental Support Project (MDSP). We are a small not-for-profit project that was founded in 2005 with the simple goal of supporting the dental needs for the most impoverished and forgotten children living in the remote outer islands throughout the Pacific islands of Micronesia. We began in 2005 by shipping over $400,000 worth of donated dental equipment to the Chuuk State public dental clinic. In 2008, we brought a team of dentists to operate free dental clinics for over 400 patients mostly children in several villages on Weno and Toloas.

On June 23 - 29, 2012, another MDSP Team 2012 will be in Chuuk to operate the same level of quality and free community dental clinics on Weno and travel to the outer islands to help the children in the Northwest outer island region. Members of the Support Team will be in Chuuk the week prior to help finalize local preparation and arrangements. It will be followed immediately by capacity-building effort to build grassroots support for the Fanapi Foundation.

What began as a way to support the existing government-run dental clinic in the State of Chuuk has grown into a way for American dentists, hygienists, and others to volunteer their time, funds, and expertise to travel to Micronesia to operate fully functional remote clinics in the outer islands of Micronesia...all for free. We have no paid staff and so we rely on volunteers and donors to help the children in the far and remote outer islands of Micronesia. If you are a dentist, dental hygienist, or a community health educator we invite you to contact us about joining our next trip to Micronesia. If you are a Micronesian student, teacher, health educator, dental assistant, please consider partnering with us to help our team locally. If you simply want to support our efforts financially or with supplies, please visit our "Get Involved" page for ways to do that.

In 2011, MDSP officially became a sponsored project of United Charitable Programs (UCP), a registered 501(c)3 public charity to offer tax deductible donations for our supporters.

Gratefully,

MDSP Team
